Art Style Love Goes to Blackwood Forest
There's nothing more relaxing to me than taking a break away from all the hectic-ness of uni and work. In fact, being able to take my mind off the idea of looming deadlines is extraordinarily comforting, and I'm sure many of you would feel the same.
I've been staying in Hampshire's Blackwood Forest, in a beautiful little retreat called Forest Holidays. Similar to Center Parcs (but without the over-commercialisation), this place is a haven for those looking to get away from the 9-5 working week, and indulge in a little R&R.
Forest Holidays are located all over the UK in, you guessed it, forests, and they offer clients a peaceful weekend, midweek or seven day break in a stunning natural setting. Activities include archery, horse-riding and nature trails, amongst many others, and various lengths of walks are marked out around the forest for you to enjoy whenever you please. I took a morning walk each day and I cannot believe how at peace I felt just listening to the sounds of the trees creaking in the wind and autumn leaves falling all around them.
I stayed in a Golden Oak Treehouse: a comfortable lodge accommodating up to ten people, plus dogs. The lodge comprises four bathrooms, five bedrooms and a large living space complete with an open plan kitchen, dining room and living room, and a hot tub! The space was clean, and very easy to get settled into - to be honest, I didn't even want to leave.
Basics, such as toilet roll, dishwasher tablets and hand soaps are provided, and they even gifted us a few doggy treats for our three dogs! We brought our own food, toiletries and other essentials along with us, but the complex offered a shop for necessities, and the local towns of Winchester and Basingstoke were only 20 minutes away by car.
Overall, I had a perfect stay; I would 100% recommend Forest Holidays to anyone looking for a quiet break with family, friends, or even alone.
