Monki Wishlist

I'm pretty in love with this brand at the moment. I'm one of those girls who wishes she could pull of minimalist Scandi style, but doesn't quite hit the mark.

To be honest, the only way for me to pull this style off would be to clear out my whole wardrobe and refill it with clothing comprised of clean lines, block colours and structured tailoring, because nothing I currently own would work with it.

So, if this were ever to happen, here are a few of my favourite Monki items that I'd definitely get my hands on:

1. Florence Dress £30
2. Hama Skirt £25
3. Miracle Purse £8
4. Mimmi Lace Top £12
5. Sage Blouse £20
6. Bo Knitted Top £20
7. Lucy Lace Bra £10
8. Lana Blazer £50
9. Dotte Velvet Skirt £8
10. Ronda Bra Aurora £12
11. Tamara Knitted Top Foil £35
12. Miracle Purse £8

Autumn Makeup Tutorial Part 2

Continuing on from my previous tutorial, I've created a more toned-down, autumn-inspired look using brown tones instead of purple. This is a more casual look, as apposed to the previous vamped-up look. Hope you enjoy!

OOTD - Colette

Being 5ft 4" is probably the thing I wish I could change most about my appearance. I'm not trying to be 'heightist', it's just that I get that sinking feeling every time I see Gisele Bundchen looking luxuriously long in a Salvatore Ferragamo ad, or the gorgeous Blake Lively in a side-split gown flashing a leg that, no doubt, goes all the way up to her armpit.

I'm desperately trying to find clothes that will add an extra inch (or five) to my petite frame, but it's hard work for someone who adores ankle boots and cut off jeans.

So I've gone in a different direction: the midi skirt.

"What?" you say, "surely this shortens you to at least dwarf level?" Well, yes, but with a pair of my Topshop strapless courts, it looks rather appealing. Plus, this navy skirt (also from Topshop) is high-waisted, so it gives the impression of a longer bottom half.
I've paired it with a duped Kenzo jumper and black bowler hat (both from eBay). Tell me what you think - does it work, or am I just kidding myself?

Christmas So Far...

December is my busiest month of the year - not only do I get handed numerous university assignments like it's some sort of very unfunny joke, it's also tremendously hectic where I work. I'm not complaining (I love being busy), but it does make me upset when I have to sacrifice my blogging time.

To keep you up to date, I've compiled a few photos from this December so far, giving you an idea of what Christmas is like for me during the rare quiet days! Let me know what you like doing to keep yourself from going insane during the festive period - or if you're the complete opposite and like to keep your Christmas as chilled as a snowy evening..

I highly recommend afternoon tea at The Park Lane Hotel. Its service is exceptional and the food is so delicious! The atmosphere of the Art Deco style Palm Court is relaxing, yet so glamorous at the same time. We received bottomless pots of tea, with various festive bites and a selection of pastries and scones, for £33 each.

OOTD - Emilia

Leather Jacket - Glamorous
T-shirt - AX Paris
Necklace - River Island
Trousers - River Island (Similar here)
Shoes - Topshop

Last month, in a conversation with my sister, I stated that I really dislike tartan and that I'd never get into the trend. In that moment, I set myself up for failure as, since that conversation, I've acquired precisely five tartan items of clothing (which I love, and am constantly wearing): some socks, a scarf, a dress, a playsuit and these trousers. I've even decorated my Christmas tree with tartan baubles, bought some tartan ribbon to wrap my presents with and, just today, I bought some delightful tartan material to create bunting. I wore tartan to my family photoshoot, have a tartan blanket on my bed, and my littlest dog wears an adorable tartan coat.

I do say stupid things sometimes, which I regret. I haven't lived it down yet either; my sister keeps reminding me every time she sees me wearing tartan.

So, overall, I'm into tartan in a big way. And, in fact, I'll be quite sad when SS14 comes along and classes it 'out of fashion'. Then I suppose I'll find another trend to reject, and later don with pride.

Please please pleasseeee vote for me for best 'under the radar blog' on if you like reading my blog - and leave a comment below if you do vote so I can thank you! It's free and there's no sign up necessary!

Kiko Cosmetics Haul

Kiko Cosmetics

Ever since I bought a rather questionable lipstick from the Naturals Collection at Boots, I've been skeptical of cheap makeup. I'm a firm believer in the phrase, 'you get what you pay for'; however, once in a while an exception pops up - and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's delighted when this occurs.

Just over fifteen years old, Kiko was founded as an Italian-based cosmetics company set on producing high quality makeup at an affordable price to its consumers. Its motto, 'be what you want to be', sums up the brand's enormous range of colours and products on offer.

I had been reading about the brand's store opening in Westfield, Stratford, recently - and on a little shopping trip at the centre, I stumbled upon the store and decided to give it a go.

I was astounded by the range of what they had to offer: from lipsticks to nail polishes, makeup accessories to hair products. So I bought several items (at a ridiculously low price), with which I've compiled a little haul video for you to see!

Company & New Look's VIP Christmas Party

Company magazine is one of the few publications that seriously interacts with its readers; their amazingly fun events are just one of the ways of making readers feel part of the magazine - not just outsiders (which has been the general relationship between the fashion industry and its consumers, until recently).

Last night, Company and New Look held a collaborative event which completely knocked any party I'd ever been to off the radar. Attended by the Company and New Look teams, alongside bloggers, photographers and bands, I felt right at home - and, not to mention, ridiculously glamorous. It was a great way for the two companies to interact with their audience, immersed in a relaxed and fun atmosphere - fueled partly by the free Malibu cocktails.

Findlay (left) performed several songs in a deep, rocky, country-style. Her voice is stunningly powerful and mesmerising - definitely recommend checking her music out if you haven't already! Chloe Howl (right) looked so stylish in her sheer black maxi, with a beautiful voice to match - listen to her single 'Paper Heart', you won't regret it.

I met some lovely people! Nokhuthula from CrystalCosmicChic looked amazing in a red bralet and gold skater skirt, while Naomi from Two Shoes, One Pair totally rocked a mermaid-like sequin maxi, fur jacket and fascinator. I'm always nervous going to events like these, but it's so nice to know that there is always someone friendly who's up for conversation.

New Look took over an entire room with their AW13 party collection, featuring glitter, sequins and anything that sparkled. It was great to be able to sift through hand-picked clothing, and mentally list the items on my next shopping spree.

Megan from Briar Rose (left) looked so festive, but still quirky, in a sequined midi, fluffy jumper and a kitsch cat-bag. Nobody held back with the glamour - after all, it's the festive season.

Wishlist: Bejewelled Shoes

I follow @LouboutinWorld on Instagram (just to put a downer on my day when I realise I can't afford any of the shoes I see), and recently they posted an image of a beautifully embellished pair of hot pink heels. Later in the day, I saw a similar style by Dolce & Gabbana in one of their stunning AW13, Sicilian-set ads in Vogue. A few hours later, when perusing shoes on Pinterest, I saw a very similar pair of embellished heels by H&M (however, I can't for the life of me remember why I didn't repin them, so I consequently kicked myself as I couldn't find them again for this post).

It hit me that jewelled shoes are having a moment this season, with fantastic dupes hitting the shelves left, right and centre. Not only are they stunning from every angle, but they've also come just at the right time: with party season in full swing, jewelled heels can add a touch of glamour to just about any outfit.

So I've compiled a collage, inspired by the Instagrammed Louboutin Artifice Strass heels, to help you get some ideas of how to feel extra 'sparkly' during the Christmas party period.

jewelled shoe collage

1. Artifice Strass by Louboutin - $2795 (approx. £1724)
3. Jewel Embellished Court Shoes by River Island - £85
4. Black Nappa & Crystal Pointy Toe Pumps by Jimmy Choo - £2095
6. Satellite Heels by ASOS - £28.00
7. Eufrasia Velvet Pump by Manolo Blahnik - £660
8. Cooperative Jewelled Heel by Urban Outfitters - $59 (approx. £36)
9. Satin Jewelled Heels by Prada - $1400 (approx. £916)
10. Licorice Jewelled Suede Pointed-Toe Pump by Kate Spade - $219 (approx. £135)

OOTD - Rhea (ft. Iconemesis)

Today has been such a great day, mostly due to the family photoshoot that I had this morning! I took my two dogs, my mum and my sister along to a photography studio and we had so much fun posing to the sound of Take That, playing with the dogs and having a chat with our very friendly photographer.

So I chose an outfit to wear at the photoshoot which took me a long time to compose; I was debating whether to go for a timeless look, like a simple black dress or a pair of jeans with a t-shirt, or more of an on-trend vibe. In the end, trends got the better of me and I decided to throw on a monochrome, checked top from new Look, paired with a Mango black jumper, underneath a tartan playsuit from Missguided. I took along a pair of tortoiseshell flats from H&M and a necklace from River Island to tie the outfit together (if you saw my Instagram post earlier today, you would've noticed my note about the fact that I looked fairly Blair Waldorf-like).

I also had my fantastic 'pug' phone case from Iconemesis, a company that retails iPhone cases illustrated by designers such as Cat Sims and Lily X. I really love this pug-smothered case, designed by illustrator, Gemma Correll - it's the perfect smidgen of happy colours and pugs standing on their hind legs, to brighten your day.

Iconemesis sell cases from iPhone 4 to 5S, all complete with quirky, beautiful designs, and starting from £19.99.

I can't wait to see the photographs from this morning's photoshoot - but I'm mostly excited about seeing my two gorgeous dogs posing in their cute little ways!

Avon Mega Effects Mascara Review

Avon Mascara

Avon's newest mascara release is definitely one of my favourite mascaras at the moment, alongside Benefit's 'They're Real!' and MAC's 'Zoom Fast Black Lash'.

I bought this from my Avon representative, after hearing a rave review about it from Company's beauty team on YouTube. I thought the bendy, paddle-brush design was something to try out - and for £10.00, I'm glad I did!

For more info, and a preview of the application process, check out the video below!

OOTD - Honor

Honor 2
Honor 1
I've been wanting to show this Missguided kimono for a while as, from the moment I received it in the post, it became a central piece in my wardrobe. It featured in my recent haul video, alongside a lace kimono, also from Missguided - evidently, I've got a thing for kimonos at the moment.

Making good use of my customised, Primark Ramones tee, I introduced an edgy look to this kimono, avoiding the rather prominent dressing gown look. My Boohoo disco pants and litas take it from a stylish day look to a casual evening look, amping up the smokey eye I created with a MAC mineralize eyeshadow. Lastly, I'm wearing an infinity bracelet that I received as part of a goodybag from the lovely team at Stylight!

OOTD - Ash

Yes, it was freezing on this shoot. And, yes, I laddered my tights (fortunately I turned them round so said ladder was not visible). However, I saw Mollie King wearing something similar earlier this year at London Fashion Week and I'd only just remembered the outfit today - so I had to get it in an OOTD post while it was still sunny.

I dressed up a simple Dorothy Perkins shirt with a jewelled necklace from Primark; a Miss Selfridge skirt (similar here), Primark tights and my beloved Topshop pointed courts. My rings, from left to right, are: 9ct gold ring from Boreham Christopher, New Look, Austrian Crystal vintage ring, New Look, New Look.

Hope you like this look and don't think I'm absolutely mad for wearing it at this time of year!

If you saw my haul video two days ago, you'd have seen that I bought two new kimonos, one of them being a lacey black one. I love this kimono, mostly for the fact that when I swish, it swishes too.

It dresses down this Zara top and Choies skirt, yet it's punked up by my New Look boots. If you can see it, I'm also wearing a black and gold bow necklace bought for me on my birthday by a friend - I don't know where this is from, but I really love it as a cute little accessory.

November Beauty Wishlist

beauty wishlist

Christmas seems like the perfect time to make wishlists like these; however, once you get going, you find that the list becomes so extensive that it's almost never ending.

Fortunately, I've managed to narrow the list down to a handful of products that I'm currently saving for (and also asking Father Christmas for!).

Skincare is my main priority at the moment, as there are so many new products out that I'm just dying to try - but I'm avidly trying to avoid buying them in case I spend my Christmas savings.

Most of these products are ones that I've heard about through other bloggers, so hopefully this list will inspire you too! Let me know if you've tried any of these, and what your opinions are!

Best Products to Combat Dry Scalp

It's the most wonderful time of the year.. but it might not be so for scalps. Once the weather takes a turn for a worst, so does my scalp, and aside from horrible dry skin, it also affects the look of my hair - faded, lackluster and flat are a few words that could describe how it looks at the moment.

I've created a list for those of you who suffer from the same problem - hopefully you'll find something that works for you!

Scalp Care

Plumps the hair and repairs the skin around the hair folicle

Serum that helps achieve optimum scalp health and tames frizz

How To: Long Lasting Lipstick

Finding out halfway through the day that your lipstick has worn off, and you're left with uneven colour, can be a little embarrassing; however, by using certain techniques, you can lock in the colour and create a look that can last all day through eating, drinking - and a few cheeky kisses!

I've created this tutorial using Dior's Diorific lipstick which I purchased from a really helpful lady at Debenhams' Dior counter. I've been wearing it so much lately because it's such an on-trend colour, it's seriously moisturising and it's long wear. I could not be more pleased with this, despite the price tag (£26.00) - you definitely get what you pay for.

Have a look at my video below for a quick and easy tutorial to help your lipstick last longer!

Avon Eyeshadow Primer Review

Recently, I bought a small haul of products from Avon, after having had a peek through their catalogue.

I never used to be a fan of purchasing beauty products from Avon, as I was not sure of the quality, or if I'd like the product without having seen it first. However, I requested an order for a few basic products, and I was so pleased with what I'd purchased.

I would say that I'd buy products from Avon exclusively from now on, but on the other hand, I love getting pampered at a Debenhams beauty counter, or hearing about a brand's latest product and trying it out for myself.

Check out the video below for my thoughts on Avon's Eyeshadow Primer!

OOTD - Uma

Uma 2

I promised I'd post photographs of my rather drag-looking 'Poison Ivy' Halloween costume on Instagram, and I did - you can find it here. Last night's party took it out of me, so I was desperate for something comfortable (and warm) to wear on this cold November day.

I figured this jumper would be a fine friend, as well as a beanie (perfect for next-day-hair) and a leather jacket by Glamorous. I chucked on my New Look black ankle boots and a pair of thick black socks, and finally some disco pants, as I like to carry the party through to the next day.

OOTD - Roni

While the weather lasts, I'm desperately trying to get in some short-sleeved blouses for outfit posts - as I hate covering up my arms (I feel so restricted!).

Today I wore a semi-sheer, navy blouse with gorgeous floral embellishment on the back, from Zara. I thought it looked stunning with a lacy, black bralet just peeking through, and went perfectly with the white leather jacket I got for my birthday - which I'm having trouble styling at the moment. If anyone has a great idea on what to pair with a white leather jacket, please let me know!

Finally I thought I'd pop on my mint courts from Topshop, to offset the navy blouse and black trousers.

I'd like to call this 'workwear', however I doubt I'd wear it to - it's too nice.

Garnier BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector Eye Roll-On

Garnier B Cream 1

Hope you all like the quick sketch I did above - I thought this review needed a bit of art thrown into it. Let me know if you'd like to see more of these!

Garnier B Cream 4

This is a review of Garnier's BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector Eye Roll-On (which is a huge mouthful, and even more of a nuisance to type).

It's a concealer in the form of a BB Cream, developed for use under the eye - however it works just as well in other areas in which you would normally apply concealer. This is a fairly new product from Garnier, however it moves on from their popular 2-in-1 Caffeine Roll On, in that both products share the same application technique, and both are meant to 'wake up' the eye area.

The pros of this eye-roll on are: it's easy to handle; it has a cold, silver ball which wakes up the area when applied to the skin; it's light, which is great for Summer, or if you're looking for a more natural appearance; it evens out the skin tone, getting rid of any dark or grey shades.

The cons are: it has very light coverage as it's a BB Cream; it has a shiny finish which could emphasise the appearance of dark circles without the use of a matt powder.

For more opinions on this product and a demonstration, check out the video below!

Garnier B Cream 3
Garnier B Cream 2

This product is available to buy from Boots at £9.99 - it comes in two shades: light or medium.
